If you’re new to blogging, you know how difficult it can sometimes be to actually write blog posts. At times you know exactly what you want to say but not really how to say it. Other times, you may not know what to say at all. It’s safe to say that there are a lot of problems that can get in the way when you’re trying to write a blog post. In this blog post, we’re going to share three tips that will help you write better blogs
Break Up Your Post into Sections
One of the best things you can do when blogging is to break your blog posts into sections. Nobody likes reading walls of text. Breaking your posts into sections not only makes it easily digestible for your readers but also allows them to navigate your content and get a good understanding of what the article is about.
The benefits of sectioning off your blog posts aren’t one sided though. By breaking articles into multiple sections, you’re able to hash out your ideas and figure out how your posts will be structured. This makes your articles flow better and allows you to write articles in less time since you already know the points you’re going to talk about.
Write the Way You Naturally Speak
Often times when new bloggers start blogging, they end up hitting the mental wall. If you don’t know what that is, it’s that moment when you catch yourself staring at a blank page not knowing how to start hours after deciding to start writing. It’s a common problem among new bloggers but it’s something with an easy remedy.
The solution is simply learning to write the way you speak. When you speak to someone about a topic, you’re not taking hours on end to try and figure out how to say what you’re wanting to tell them. You just tell them! It’s natural for you. The same thing applies when it comes to writing blog posts. When you write the same way you would speak, it comes off sounding more natural to your readers, and flows better too.
Get to the Point
Wouldn’t your article be better if it were super long? I mean longer articles are better right?
It would be easy to think that the longest and most in depth article would be better. Unfortunately that’s not always the case. Think about how people actually read articles. When you’re reading a blog post, do you really want to still be reading that same post fifteen minutes from now? Probably not. In today’s fast paced and busy world, people are usually in a hurry, and just don’t have time to read extremely long blog posts.
In all actuality, shorter articles are often times better than longer ones. Now I’m not telling you to write a couple sentences and call it a day. What we’re saying is that you don’t need to take five pages to say what can be said in in two pages or fewer.
Your articles should be 300 words or more to rank well in Google. A good rule of thumb is to have your articles be anywhere from 300 words to 700 words long. They can of course be longer if they just need to, but just remember to get to the point as quickly as possible.
We hope these three tips will help you write better articles. Just remember that the longer time you spend on blogging, the more you’ll get the hang of things. Eventually you’ll develop your own writing style and even your own process.
