You know what you want to write about, but you just can’t seem to get the words onto the screen.

For some people, writing articles and blog posts can be very challenging. You know what you want to write about, but you just can’t seem to get the words onto the screen. Unfortunately, writing great content is only half of the battle. In order to drive traffic to your website and get more readers, you’re going to have to do promotion for every post that you create.

Promoting your content isn’t always easy, but there are a few things you can do to make the process much smoother. In this post, we’re going to show you three strategies you can use to build organic backlinks to your content and grow your audience.

Guest Posting

In the simplest of terms, guest posting is the process of writing and publishing an article or blog post on someone else’s blog or website. This is hands down one of the most powerful ways you can build backlinks and get your brand out there. At this point, you’re probably left wondering how guest posting works, and how you’ll be able to benefit from it.

Typically when guest posting on someone else’s blog, they allow you to include a link back to your website. In exchange, the guest poster is providing their fellow blogger with quality content for free. By guest posting on blogs relevant to your own, not only are you building new relationships with fellow bloggers, but you’re gaining tons of exposure and getting your brand in front of the eyes of new readers.

Eventually the backlinks you get from guest posting begin to add up. You also don’t have to guest post only once per blog. Multiple guest posts over time will actually benefit you by making your posts on their site seem more organic, and not like you’re just trying to guest post to build backlinks.

Be Helpful and Active on Other Blogs

One of the most overlooked and misunderstood ways of building organic backlinks to your blog is simply being helpful and active on other blogs relevant to your own. Now this doesn’t mean go around everywhere spamming links to your website on other people’s blog. Quite the contrary. What we’re talking about is genuinely being helpful and giving useful feedback to your fellow bloggers.

If you’re engaging and active on someone else’s blog or forum, you’ll eventually get noticed and seen as someone that knows what they are talking about. If someone has a question and you know the answer or can help out, do so to the best of your ability.

Most comment sections of websites these days even ask you if you have a website when you get ready to comment, allowing you to input your site and get a easy backlink anyway. More importantly however, if you’re leaving quality comments and answering questions on forums, the admins or webmasters will recognize you as a serious user and authority in the topic instead of seeing you as a typical spammer. There’s a good chance they’ll even allow you to link back to your site every once in a while in your blog comments or forum posts.

Not only that, but due to you being an active contributor and fellow blogger they are likely to be much more open to having you write guest posts on their website or blog when the time comes. You may not even have to ask them, they may approach you instead. Remember, it’s quality over quantity here. Having one quality backlink will mean more in the eyes of search engines than 1,000 low quality backlinks.

Build Relationships With Other Bloggers

Last but certainly not least in our list of the top three most effective backlink building strategies comes the most important and effective of them all… networking and building relationships with other bloggers. I can’t stress enough how important this one strategy is. No matter what topic or subject your blog focuses on, the number one way to get more traffic to your website is network with bloggers in your niche.

Believe it or not, bloggers carry a lot of influence. Imagine what would happen to your blog if an authority website that gets thousands of hits per day were to link back to you? You’d get an explosion of traffic to your website overnight. Likely more than you could handle. Now unless you know the people over that site already, the chances of that happening for you are pretty slim to none. However by building relationships with other bloggers, you’ll already have people who are happy and willing to share and promote your blog post to their audience.

However this isn’t just a one way street. You don’t build relationships just to benefit yourself. Promoting your fellow bloggers is just as important. Not only does it make them more willing to promote your content, but it can actually drive more traffic to your website in the long run.
