Is it April 2015 already? Wow, I guess time flies when you’re building amazing websites. The year 2014 was great and we had a lot of fun. Now that 2015 is here, it’s that time of year again, the time of year when we look at what web design trends you can expect to see in this new year.
Responsive Web Design
In 2014 responsive design was king! Nearly every website these days stretches, flexes, and adapts to our view-ports with ease. Is that going to change in 2015? We seriously doubt it. Quite the contrary, with the new smart TVs and smart watches hitting the market, responsive web design is pretty much becoming a standard for any new websites being developed.
One of the newer trends we’ve seen pop up more and more on the web is split screen web page design. This is typical for websites that want to showcase two primary elements of equal value or priority. Examples of this could be affiliate marketing websites that allow both marketers and publishers to sign up for the site. With split screen, its all about choice.
Grid Based Layouts
This next one is more of a combination of the first two. Grid based layouts aren’t anything new, but they are still being widely used in the web design world these days. With the amazing functionality responsive web design brings, grid based layouts easily flex and re-size themselves accordingly. This is a great way to showcase categories and content for your viewers.
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
Designers have been working with SVG for quite some time now. As of late, we’ve seen these vector graphics used on a large number of new websites hitting the web. Using this technology allows your page assets to look crisp and scale beautifully across mobile devices. In addition to scaling beautifully, you can expect to see designers using SVG in order to create sleek animations that breath life into the websites they’re on.
Full Screen Designs
The last item on the list that we’re going to talk about today is full screen web design. This is one of the most widely adopted and rapidly growing trends happening on the web today. Full screen web designs instantly grab your attention and immerse you into a website’s content. With the clever use of responsive techniques, full screen layouts adapt and display across all your mobile devices.
Well there you have it guys. These are our picks for the web design trends you can expect to see in 2015. Did we leave something out? Join the discussion in the comments below!
